Reflections Gastronomie Restaurant was indeed a labour of love. My Wife, Ella and I created a space where comfort, luxury and gastronomy can harmoniously be in sync.
It would be our pleasure to have the community come to our re grand opening to watch the movie of the hard work in creating a restaurant of this calibre for the community.

Although it was hard work, we had a lot of fun and learned a life time of knowledge in the start up of a restaurant beginning with finding the right company to pour cement to the painter, designer and even knowing the right people to contact at city hall. With a venture such as this it is never “ already finished”, when one stage is done a new one promptly begins and so its an ongoing effort that Ella and I so much enjoy and most of all enjoy sharing the thing we love most with our community and everyone else who shares the passion of good food.

I recently joined a site Called Facebook.com where I created a profile for the Restaurant and a network called – Savouring A Dining Experience-, if anyone is currently using face book and would like to grow your network as well as share Reflections Gastronomie where their friends, please provide your name in a reply and I will add you to my network.

Ella and I look forward to seeing you at Reflections Gastronomie!

VANCOUVER PHOTOGRAPHER BRINGS BUSINESS TO STEVESTON - Celebrities and weddings, big and small, are only some of her clients.
Sandra has captured on film. Dan Cloutier, Brendan Morrison,

June 26, 2007 – What do Trevor Linden, Sarah McLaughlin and Chip Wilson have in common? They’ve all been photographed by Vancouver’s Sandra Steier.

Sandra, who started as a model herself, picked up a camera one day and never looked back. What started as a hobby is now a full blown – and very busy – business.

“It felt like an obvious evolution, going from modeling to photography.” Sandra explains from her Steveston Studio, “I feel comfortable directing my subjects because I know very well what it feels like to be in front of the lens.”

Trevor Linden is only one of the sports stars Tiger Williams and Howie Meaker round out the famous sports faces she’s had in session. Along with BC’s very own Sarah Mclaughlin, City TV Breakfast Television’s Tasha Chi is another well known face Sandra has photographed.

Sandra’s photographic work has taken her on a few unexpected adventures as well. She’s traveled on assignment to Washington, DC and California’s Napa Valley, to name a few.

Chip Wilson, founder of Vancouver’s uber successful yoga wear, LULULemon, was Sandra’s subject for an article in ‘The Point Magazine’.

Moving her studio to Steveston allows Sandra to focus her work on the portraits that mean so much to her. “When I can capture that light in a person’s eye, that natural light that everyone has inside of them, then I know I’ve done my job.” Sandra describes.

The photography business has afforded Sandra so much opportunity that she’s been able to give back. She regularly donates her time and expertise to

“Capturing Love” – providing underprivileged families with portraits, as well as, Richmond Rotary, Hope International, and The Arthritis Foundation.

Sandra’s studio is now open for business and she welcomes new clients. She also hopes to meet her new neighbors as she gets to know Steveston.

HAPPY SUMMER FROM THE COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL OF RICHMOND
For those of you who do not know us, we are a non profit organization, registered with the Provincial and Federal government Our mandate is to support the arts and artists in our community firstly, and the rest of the Province secondly.

You can visit our Website at www.richmondartscouncil.com to learn more about who we are and what we do. We have been in existence since 1970.

Our most visible project is the Courtyard Galleria located in the heart of Steveston Village, tucked away at 150 – 3500 Moncton St. This shop is our vehicle to showcase the art of our members, who submit their work to be juried. Once accepted, it is placed in the Courtyard Galleria for sale with the largest portion of the sale price going directly to the artist/member. That is why the merchandise is always varied and changing. Rarely are there any two items that are identical and most often are one of a kind pieces whether it be pottery, paintings, wood, fabric art, glass, paper art, cards, jewellery and so much more.

Because we are tucked away and not directly on Moncton Street, we often get missed by those passing by, so we encourage you to walk a bit further and discover the treasures that are waiting for you, lovingly crafted and painted by our very talented members. We are hoping to better identify our location with the installation of a series of flags along the courtyard walkway this summer.

We also plan to feature various artists and artisans displaying and selling their work outside in the courtyard, weather permitting throughout July and August. So stop by and see how lucky we are to have such talented people so close to home.
We also hold a variety of exhibitions in the Galleria such as the “Out of the Woodwork” and “Kidding Around” exhibitions recently held this past spring and our upcoming Indian Summer Art Show starting August 21 and the Fall Fabric Fair begins Oct 2, 2007. We also held a “Kidding Around Celebration” on May 27th. This was a free event for children and featured face painting, an art table, games, prizes, Robbie the Clown, food, drink and more. The exhibitions are available for viewing at the Courtyard Galleria at no cost to the public and these exhibitions are another way for us to feature artists that are not our members thereby supporting artists from all over the province.
For those who may be interested, applications for these events can be downloaded from our website. You can also email us at info@richmondartscouncil.com with your suggestions and questions.

Your support of these artists and the Courtyard Galleria will make it possible for us to continue our grant program and sponsorship of other artistic events. Our website www.richmondartscouncil.com is just completing an upgrade and we encourage you to visit it to learn more about us and take the few extra steps to visit the Courtyard Galleria. Who knows you may even want to become a member! Happy summer from all of us!
