Arlene Lawson

It is with sadness that I am sending this email.  Arlene Lawson, former owner of the Country Mouse has passed away.  There will be a service for her at Richmond Funeral Home, on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 3:30.  Arlene was a good friend to me and a stanch supporter of the business community of Steveston.  She owned and operated the Country Mouse for over twenty years until she retired and her daughter Trudy took over.  She was the first President of the now late Steveston Business Association.  She will be missed.

NEW!! REFLECTIONS GASTRONOMY, Construction has started on the new Reflections Gastronomie restaurant owned by Marat and Ella Dreyshner. The Dreyshner’s, long-time residents of Richmond, are excited to be opening up a brand new restaurant in Steveston.

“Steveston is a great place and changing rapidly. The developments on the waterfront are phenomenal and we look forward to be a part of all of this. Our restaurant will have a European-style bistro atmosphere and food. The emphasis will be on fresh and local,” says Marat Dreyshner, the restaurant’s executive chef.

His wife Ella, who will be the general manager, says “the plan is to be open by mid January of next year. The view from the restaurant will be fantastic. Both from the main and second floor customers will see the mighty Fraser and when you add the wonderful food that we will be serving it will become a great dining experience. The response we had from people in Steveston to our new venture has been terrific. Now we can hardly wait till we are open for business.”

My name is Janice Triffon, a certified Jazzercise Instructor/Franchise Owner. I just started offering adult Jazzercise exercise classes at the South Arm United Church, 11051 No. 3 Road in Richmond (corner of No. 3 Road and Steveston Highway).

Jazzercise is the world's leading dance-fitness program with more than 6,500 instructors teaching 20,000 classes weekly around the globe. Since 1969, millions of people of all ages and fitness levels have reaped the benefits of this comprehensive program, designed to enhance cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility.

My classes are Monday and Thursday at 6:30pm, Wednesday at 6:15pm and Saturday mornings at 9:15am. In January, I would like to expand my program to children with Jr. Jazzercise.
