Concordia is a 3 masted barkentine, 188 feet overall built in 1992. She is dedicated to educating a community of young people, preparing minds, values and ethics for responsible global citizenship in the twenty-first century and home to the renowned "Class Afloat" program.

August 20, 21, 22, 2004 Britannia Shipyard National Historic Site will host Richmond's first Maritime Festival with exhibits, demonstrations, music and activities for the whole family, including heritage boats of all shapes and sizes. Rope making, knot tying, net making and sea shanties will help celebrate Richmond's maritime history. Sailing "ship's boats" to steam tugs will be on display at the docks. Pirates aplenty - grog and victuals for all.

GULF OF GEORGIA CANNERY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

"Mayday: The Risky Business of Fishing"
Cannery sees big increase in attendance so far this year. Richmond's largest tourist attraction recorded a big boost in attendance in April, helped by Mayday, its new search and rescue exhibit. April visitation to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery was up 29% over last year. The increase in attendance is particularly welcome as this year marks the Tenth Anniversary of the Cannery's opening to the public as a National Historic Site, as well as the 110th anniversary of its construction. Ask about regular and corporate membership benefits, call Rob Hart, 604-664-9134

Planning a trip in Canada this year? Parks Canada national passes are available for sale at the GOG. These passes allow unlimited opportunities to visit national parks or national historic sites across Canada. They are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. All from just $35 for the national historic site pass, $45 for the national parks pass or $59 for the combined pass. Ask at the Cannery's front desk for details.
