CELEBRATING 100 YEARS
The building the Steveston Museum is in is 100 years old this year! Built in prefabricated panels by the BC Mills Timber and Trading Co. of New Westminster, it was shipped down the Fraser River and put on its current site at 3811 Moncton St. in 1905 as the area's first bank. Through corporate mergers, the Northern Bank eventually became the Royal Bank which moved from the building to its present site across the street in 1963. For a short time it housed Dr. Campbell's medical practice. After extensive restoration, it opened in 1979 as the Steveston Museum and post office.

STEVESTON FOLK GUILD CALENDAR

The Westerlies 2005
A group of old friends who formed a folk group. It’s members are Ellen van der Hoeven, of “The Neverly Sisters”, “Dark Willow” and formally “Three Strong Winds”. Brian Robertson, singer songwriter best known for his image laden songs about the West Coast, many of which are found on his cd “Salt chuck Serenade”. Completing the lineup is Paul Gitlitz a multi instrumentalist formally with Charlotte Diamond & “Whiplash”, and a fixture of the Vancouver music scene for many years.
Many of the songs are Brian’s originals about west coast life and times and Paul is a prolific composer of great fiddle tunes. Add Ellen’s great harmonies and leads and you have a group that, like its namesake wind, is bringing fair musical skies to appreciative audiences around this part of the world. You will not be disappointed.
