The parade route is again alternating streets between 2nd and 6th Ave in old Steveston.

IMPORTANT FOR ALL STEVESTON RESIDENTS!!

STEVESTON MUSEUM AND POST OFFICE - The Richmond Council quietly passed a motion on Monday September 22nd to relocate the old Japanese Nurse's Residence from behind the Army and Navy Club into the "Jewel of Steveston" park behind the Steveston Post Office.  This park is a wonderful green space in our Village with summer music concerts, tai chi and people just enjoying the quiet and shade under the wonderful trees that adorn the park.  IF the building is relocated, the park will no longer be a flow through park as the house is to be situated on First Avenue and to do so, we would lose five of those wonderful old trees.  Two of the trees fall within the City of Richmond bylaw that does not allow removal of trees over 9 inches in diameter, but when those who make the bylaws then break the bylaws, who is to enforce the consequences.

Many concerned residents have garnered together a petition to illustrate to the Mayor and Council their displeasure about a decision that had no public input and will devastate the Steveston Post Office Park.  If you feel strongly about trying to overturn this devastating decision, please print out the attached petition, get your friends, neighbors or people on your street to sign it.  When the sheet(s) are full, please either let me know or drop off in an envelope at the Steveston Post Office - attention Edith Turner.
