To help celebrate BC’s 150th anniversary, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery is mounting an exhibit: Nifty 150: Gears, Nets and GPS, focusing on innovation and invention in the fishing industry. Come BY

It is our great pleasure to once again open the “nets” to the Cannery Shore for another season. We look forward to seeing familiar faces, as well as many new ones. As always, you can find a fantastic selection of unusual gifts and souvenirs - including canned salmon, jewelry, hard to come by books, First Nations crafts, as well as children’s toys. Looking for a truly unique item? Choose from our wide variety of original art and Canadian made products, which can easily fit into a suitcase! The BC SPCA would like to invite you and your business to become a sponsor for the 2008 Paws for a Cause ….. Walk for the Animals campaign in Richmond, the largest fundraising event for animals in British Columbia.

Event Background:

  • Over 10,000 participants province-wide;
  • 200 volunteers;
  • Two VIP Launch events held in June in Vancouver and Victoria;
  • The program spans over four months, June through September;
  • Funds raised through Paws for a Cause stay in local BC communities to help animals in need.

Our 2008 goal is to raise $850,000 provincially. Campaign Background: The event has become a day to celebrate all animals including domestic, farm and wild animals. The media attention that our campaign has received this year was unprecedented which further promotes animal welfare awareness.

The funds raised through the Paws for a Cause walk for the animals go directly towards emergency veterinary care, sheltering, rehabilitation, cruelty investigations, education and advocacy.

We hope that you would be proud to support this important provincial campaign. We are very excited about this opportunity and are confident that our partnership will be truly mutually beneficial.

A weekly community celebration of food, culture and heritage, each market day promises to be a lively and memorable home grown event. The Steveston Farmers and Artisans Market runs from May 4 through to September 28 , every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Gulf of Georgia National Historic Site's parking lot.

Britannia Shipyard is the place to be for a celebration of our maritime heritage. With a floating exhibition of boats for your viewing pleasure, this year's festival is expected to be the best yet!!

Maritime displays, boat restoration, maritime demonstrations, ships, food, free kids' activities, live entertainment, maritime music and lots of family fun.

THE 3rd ANNUAL TEE CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT.

Hi everyone….mark your calendars! We have chosen the date for THE 3 RD ANNUAL TEE CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT. THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 at Country Meadows Golf Club in Richmond After raising over $6000 for Touchstone Family Association in 2007 we are hoping to reach the $10,000 mark this year.

After listening to your positive feedback we have again dedicated our fundraising to Touchstone Family Association. Please visit their web site at www.touchfam.ca to learn more about all they do.

To save your spot, reply to this email to pre-register as an individual or with friends. Registration and details will follow but we do want to give our supporters from the past the opportunity to play as we are anticipating a sold out event this year. Remember this is a fun tournament for all levels of golfer.

Some new opportunities will be available for sponsorship in this year's Tee Cup.

Eighteen $300 hole sponsorships are available as well as the putting contest sponsor. This allows sponsors the opportunity to include their information or product in the goodie bags or at the place settings, run an activity or tasting at their hole, and receive signage highlighting their company on their hole. We will provide a $100 discount on sponsorship if you also register a foursome.

The Community Arts Council of Richmond invites you to visit the new ARTISANS GALLERIA. It is located on Moncton St. between the La Tandoor and Cannery Café on the north side of the street.

Double the size of the old location, it is filled with works of art, including pottery from 10 different potters, paintings, prints and photographs from over 20 artists, fabric, metal, glass, wood, jewellery, decorative painting, cards and more, from over 25 various artist members.
By making a purchase at the Artisans Galleria you are supporting both the non-profit Community Arts Council and local artists as well as purchasing a one of a kind, touched by hand, work of art.

This location will also be host to the 3rd annual INDIAN SUMMER ART SHOW which takes place from August 19 – September 30th. This exhibition will feature juried art in all media from all over the Province. There is no charge to come in to view this well attended exhibition.
