GULF OF GEORGIA CANNERY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

 

The Cannery Store 

Stop in this holiday season for a wide selection of gifts with Steveston and maritime themes! From books to t-shirts to jewelry, the Cannery Store has what you are looking for. Proceeds assist the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society to run the national historic site.

Our holiday hours are:
Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9 and 15th to 22nd, 11:30 am to 4:30 pm

* Plus, for the Spectacle of Lights we are open late on Dec. 7th from 1:00 - 9:00 pm. *

 

Remember, Santa arrives at the Public Wharf by boat on Saturday, December 8 at 2:00 pm and will be at the Cannery for pictures (bring your own camera) from 2:30 to @ 3:30 pm!

“Industry on the Waterfront” exhibit at Britannia
Heritage Shipyard. Britannia, a National Historic Site, is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Shipyard and surrounding buildings as an active wooden boat centre and waterfront park. Daily tours are being offered: Tue – Sun @ 11:30am – 4:30pm until the end of September. Starting Oct 1st the tours are being offered only on Sat 10am – 4pm and Sun 12pm – 4pm

 

Britannia Shipyard Tour Guides
The Britannia Shipyard, National Historic Site is expanding and adding new exhibits. Join us in the excitement! Help history come alive. Be active in the community and meet people from all over the world! Learn the story of Britannia and take visitors on guided tours of the shipyard. Learn about your local history, be close to nature and take advantage of special volunteer privileges! Contact Angela or Brooke at 604-718-8050 today.

 

CHIMO CRISIS SERVICES is seeking volunteers for its Crisis Line. Learn effective communication skills, give back to your community, make a difference. Training starts mid-January. Call 604-279-7077 for more information.

Will be hosting a Seniors Christmas meal at the Steveston Community Center Dec. 15, 1-3 pm. seating is limited to 150 people. Anyone wishing to come must register by phoning Susan at 604 836 6233. Registration will start Nov.19 /07. Also a Bus is available for anyone needing transportation .

The Richmond Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop would like to thank our customers and donors for their support throughout the year. We wish you a safe and happy Christmas season. John’s painterly landscapes focus on West Coast subjects that evoked a mood or special feeling in him or that triggered his senses or stimulated his interest because of their colour and contrast in light. His dense, vivid colours are used freely and capture a quiet moment that collectors can appreciate and admire for a long time.

Catch of the Day at Fisherman’s Wharf is now online. Consumers can view available seafood daily in the below box. Sellers at the Sales Float, can call in their Catch at (604) 272-5539. (Editor note: Thanks to the newsletter sent to me by www.savvyinsider.ca, I was able to catch this information so people can call or visit them instead of calling me!! – Sue Girling)

RICHMOND MULTICULTURAL CONCERNS SOCIETY

This club gets together on first Wednesday of every month from 1:30pm to 3pm at the Richmond Caring Place Room 345/50. And registration is required to join this club. Richmond Multicultural Concerns Society will offer Evening English Class from September 13, every Thrusday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm. for Intermediate Level Students. Space are limited and will be given on a "first come first serve" basis. The fee is $40 ($35 material fee and $5 membership if you are not member yet).
