May 19th ‘Port na Gael’
Port na Gael means "tune of the Gael", which evokes the sound created by this talented group of musicians. Their defining characteristics are soul-stirring harmonies and lively tunes played on fiddle, uillean pipes, Irish flute, bouzouki, cittern, guitar and, when musically necessary, the bodhran. Port na Gael has played at a variety of folk festivals and venues on either side of the border, most recently at the Seattle Folklife Festival, and Cityfest in Vancouver. This is the band's first appearance at SFG.

February 17th Lhiannan
Pronounced "lee-ann-in". A contemporary Celtic/Folk duo consisting of Vocalist Christi Arellano and Guitarist Todd Habekost. Traditional songs of Scotland, Ireland and England are mixed with original guitar instrumentals for a varied and enjoyable listening experience. Fans of Lorrenna Mckennitt and Guitarist Tony Mcmanus should find themselves right at home at a Lhiannan concert.

March 17th Yael Wand
Pronounced: "Yah-elle". Born in Israel and raised in Vancouver, having traversed continents in between, Yael Wand now makes her home deep in the interior mountains of BC. Yael is one of those rare performers with the ability to draw in an audience not only by the sound of her voice, clear and wrought with emotion, but also with the colour and substance of her songwriting. In both songwriting and performing, Yael creates a tapestry of things both ethereal and worldly. Her shift from city-girl to rural BC further informs her sound, reflecting the earthy tones of the backwoods with a metropolitan sophistication: modern folk with allusions of sultry jazz and mid-eastern exoticism.

April 21st Steve Slade
Steve hails from The Yukon. He tours throughout BC & Alberta several times a year. Gifted with a rich full voice he is equally at home singing traditional folk and blues or belting out a host of jazz standards, which he embellishes with some pretty impressive 'harp' playing. He displays considerable talent as a singer-songwriter; one minute he can have the audience laughing and the next moved to tears as he sings of people he has met and stories that touch us all. Come listen to Steve put on a great show for SFG
