The 2006 Steveston Heritage Calendar - Artist Jo Scott B depicts some of Steveston best known heritage buildings (past & present) with 13 watercolour images. Also available at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Store, the Steveston Museum, London Farm and the Courtyard Galleria. Proceeds go to the non-profit Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, responsible for operating the Cannery.

 

2006 Steveston Heritage Calendar

Cost is $15.00, call 604-664-9006 or 604-664-9134. The calendars are available also at the Steveston Museum, London Heritage Farm and the Richmond Cultural Centre.

Spectacle of Lights - December 9 and 10. Join us for the 2nd annual Christmas extravaganza! The magic begins on Friday, December 9 at 6:00 pm with a procession from the Steveston Community Centre down Moncton Street to Fisherman’s Park (in front of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery). There our 40 foot Christmas tree will be lit to the sounds of traditional Christmas Carols.

On Saturday, December 10 Santa arrives by boat at the Public Wharf at 2:00 pm and makes his way to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. Bring your camera and join him there for photos with your kids! Merchants and residents are encouraged to light their stores and homes and help bring Holiday magic to Steveston.

RICHMOND MULTICULTURAL CONCERNS SOCIETY

Folk Night The Steveston Folk group offers a mixture of Celtic, Folk and Blues tunes every third Thursday of each month from 8:00-10:00pm in the Murakami boatworks building.

STEVESTON MUSEUM AND POST OFFICE

The Steveston Museum Society would like to remind all Businesses and residents about the services they offer. Don’t forget when you are doing your all you’re Holiday mailing that you buy your stamps and send your parcels through the Steveston Post Office that the Post Office is run by the Society and all proceeds are used to operate the Museum. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSEUM.

LONDON HERITAGE FARM

Is decorated for Christmas and open weekends. Beginning December 7th, London Farm will be open Wednesday through Sunday to December 23, also December 28, 29 & 30. Family and pet photos with Santa in his workshop at London Farm on December 10 & 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year the Christmas gift shop includes London Farm honey and preserved produce from the Farm's gardens. Spiced crab apples, applesauce, blackberry pie filling and more. All grown at London Farm.

THE RICHMOND HOSPITAL AUXILIARY THRIFT SHOP

The Richmond Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop, 3920 Moncton St., is run entirely by volunteers and all our money goes to Richmond Hospital - for the purchase of much needed equipment and to pay for the continuing support of the recreational needs of the residents of the Minoru Residence and Lions Manor. We have recently pledged another $200,000 for 2006.

Do you have 4 hours a week to spare if so .... would appreciate your help with sorting and pricing donations and at the same time we guarantee laughter and friendship! CHIMO CRISIS SERVICES NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR CRISIS LINE

The Crisis Line is presently looking for volunteers to help provide emotional support to callers who may be experiencing loneliness, grieving, relationship problems, or other types of everyday stresses. We also provide information and referrals to services within our community. We offer extensive training in basic communication skills such as empathic listening and problem solving. If you are looking for a challenge, an opportunity to learn new skills, and give back to your community call us at 604.279.7077 for more information and an application form. Hurry, a new training session starts this January.

RICHMOND BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION

Meeting the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm in the Kinsman Pavilion at the Richmond Nature Park, No. 5 Road and Westminster Highway. STEVESTON FOLK GUILD CALENDAR

LHIANNAN (lee-ann-in)
Once again we welcome Lhiannan to SFG. Lhiannan is a contemporary Celtic/Folk duo consisting of Vocalist Christi Arellano and Guitarist Todd Habekost. Traditional songs of Scotland, Ireland and England are mixed with original Guitar instrumentals for a varied and enjoyable listening experience. Fans of Loreena McKennitt and Guitarist Tony McManus should find themselves right at home at a Lhiannan concert. You will not be disappointed. We had a full house for their performance in 2005. Admission $7 at the door, Show starts at 8pm, Limited seating available.
